US folk-rockers Bonny Doon create the sunniest mix of alternative folk, alt-country, indie pop and pastoral psychedelia – and they’re bringing their distinct sound to Australian this June on their debut trip down under.
After a stint as Waxahatchee’s backing band, Bonny Doon have subtly sharpened their musicianship on a laid-back album suffused in positive vibes. Their music may be laid back, but it’s certainly not lazy. There’s a graceful melodic sense and an instrumental blend influenced by 1970s soft rock, infused with a focus that keeps the work of this dynamic three piece utterly engaging. Their latest musical journey, last year’s hit album Let There Be Music, is one that has big payoffs for devoted followers and undeniable rewards for anyone just stumbling across this band for the first time.
