About this Event

For the past 6 years, Bonifacio: Modern Filipino has proven itself as an ambassador of Filipino food and culture in the midwest. Offering modern Filipino cuisine and island-inspired cocktails, Bonifacio has been recognized by Food and Wine as the Best Place for Filipino Food in Ohio and Columbus Monthly’s Top 10 Restaurants. We have also been featured on Cooking Channel’s Burgers, Brews, and ‘Que and Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games. Last year, we expanded into a street food concept at Budd Dairy Food Hall in Italian Village called Boni: Filipino Street Food. In our next adventure, we will be introducing Cincinnati to our newest addition to the Hiraya Hospitality family, Gabriela: Filipina Cantina with a classic kamayan dinner, a family-style feast served on banana leaves and eaten without utensils.

What is Kamayan?

Kamayan is a traditional family style meal where a communal table is covered in banana leaves and piled with heaps of rice, meat, vegetables, and more. Traditionally there is no silverware - you grab and eat everything with your hands.

True to Filipino tradition, the purpose of our Kamayan dinners is to bring the community together. You may find yourself sitting beside a complete stranger, but by the end of the shared dining experience we hope that all of our guests will leave as friends. Therefore we will be limiting the number of tickets that can be purchased at once, and if you arrive with a group, we ask that you respect the nature of the event and allow us to seat you with other guests.

Our Kamayan dinners have been lauded as one of the most unique dining experiences in Columbus. We look forward to welcoming Cincinnati to our Kamayan table!
