BOMBA LIVE PRESENTS20 Years of Back to Black - A Celebration of Amy Winehouse
📍 Bomba, Exeter Quay
đź—“ Saturday 19th September
đź•– 7pm - 11.30pm
This year marks 20 years of Back to Black - an album that didn’t just define a moment, but changed the shape of modern soul, jazz and pop music forever.
This show is a celebration of Amy Winehouse - her voice, her songwriting, her influences and the performances that made her unforgettable. It’s fronted by Laura Jane Butler, widely regarded as the most authentic Amy tribute artist working today, and notably the only tribute show in the world endorsed by both of Amy’s parents, Janis and Mitch Winehouse.
Laura doesn’t just sing the songs - she understands the phrasing, the vulnerability and the fire that sat behind them. Drawing from Frank, Back to Black and Lioness: Hidden Treasures, the set moves between the big moments and the deeper cuts, just as Amy did live.
Alongside classics like Rehab, Back to Black, Tears Dry On Their Own, You Know I’m No Good and Love Is A Losing Game, the show also nods to Amy’s jazz and soul roots. Expect moments inspired by her live takes on Someone To Watch Over Me, Mister Magic, Cupid and Monkey Man - songs that shaped her sound as much as her own writing did.
This isn’t about imitation for novelty’s sake. It’s about honouring the legacy of one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, with care, respect and real musical weight.
A special night for Amy fans, music lovers, and anyone who knows how much that album still means.
