Acrylic Landscape Painting Supply List
Paint:
For this workshop I will be using this palette: Cadmium Yellow Deep, Cadmium Orange, Luminous Rose, Amethyst, Compose Violet, Shadow Green with the possible addition of Titanium White, Cobalt Teal, and Paynes Grey.
If you are a beginner, I always recommend a palette that includes a warm and a cool version of each of the three primary colors such as this one: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Hansa Yellow Light, Red Rose Deep or Pink Matter, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Teal, Paynes Grey.
This is only a recommendation. You are welcome to use any colors and brands that you choose or if you already have established your own color palette, you are more than welcome to use that.
Brands I like: Holbein, M. Graham, Sennelier or Da Vinci. Some of the names of the colors I use are specific to a particular brand. However, you can find similar colors in whichever brand you select.
Canvas:
Stretched canvases can be found about everywhere these days. I always recommend purchasing the best you can afford. Better quality brands like Fredrix, will have heavier weight canvas and sturdier stretched bars. If you prefer a more rigid surface there are many to choose from. I like Ampersand Aquabord and Gessobord products. Please us an 11x14 inch or larger substrate. As an added option, a few sheets of watercolor paper, canvas paper or boards for quick studies might be helpful.
Brushes:
I recommend the following: Trekell or Princeton, long handle brushes: Size #12 or #10 natural bristle flat, #8 or #6 natural bristle filbert and #4 synthetic round.
Additional Items:
Tabletop easel
Freezer paper or 9x12 pad of palette paper
Water Mixing bottle.
Palette Knife
Water container, preferably plastic
Vine Charcoal
Paper Towels.
If you have any questions about any of the supplies, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected].
