Bohemian Day Trip from Berlin to Saxony Switzerland

Take a day trip to Bohemian Switzerland, have lunch at the Pravcicka Gate, hike across the border into Germany, and finish the day hike at one of the country's best breweries.

This breathtaking day hike from Berlin takes you from the misty river canyon of Hrensko in Czechia straight to the crown jewel of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland national parks. Moving through towering sandstone columns, pristine pine forests, and across international borders, this route combines dramatic geological wonders with a fresh, cross-border perspective.

First, we visit the awe-inspiring Pravčická Brána, Europe’s largest natural sandstone arch. Here we will enjoy traditional Czech cuisine, looking over the valley below. From the Gate, the route takes advantage of the newly opened hiking path into Saxon Switzerland (Germany), through the sandstone formations and into the village of Schmilka, where we will enjoy traditional beers at a Saxon brewery, before crossing the Elbe and catching the train home.
