Look Up is the debut album of Swedish guitar player and composer Albin Ormegard. Music created
to serve as a reminder to stop and truly observe. To encourage reflection. An invitation to look up
from our distractions, to notice the world and people around us, and to practice the art of opening our
eyes to the things that are often overlooked in our surroundings. The compositions are written as a
response to the fast-paced nature of contemporary popular culture, encouraging listeners to reconnect
with the present moment. The music blends the harmonic and linear language of modern jazz guitar with vast sonic landscapes,
timbres from nylon string-, baritone- and electric guitars melting together, carefully designed melodies and compositions - all
together with a gentle but without-fear-attitude to improvisation and the instrument. Brought to life by the honest, precise and
fiercely dynamic sound of Ormegard's guitar playing, the music catches the listeners attention and then carefully leads them
into different musical rooms that are carefully constructed and de-constructed by the band.
Albin Ormegard is a 25-year-old guitarist and composer from Sweden currently based in Copenhagen.
Growing up in Katrineholm, Södermanland, he developed a passion for music at an early age, thanks to the
small town’s vibrant cultural community. During his teenage years, he mainly listened to rock, metal,
and hip-hop, but was later introduced to jazz by the acclaimed saxophonist and local hero Nisse
Sandström (1942–2021).With an early commitment to his craft, he has pursued his passion for music
through studies at institutions such as the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and, as the first
Scandinavian musician ever, a part of the prestigious Focusyear project at the Jazzcampus in Basel.
There he shared the stage with major figures in the modern jazz circuit such as Kendrick Scott, Linda
May Han Oh, Jorge Rossy, Aaron Parks, Becca Stevens, and Gilad Hekselman among others.
