On May 24, Le Belmont hosts an evening of music, poetry, and cultural discovery with the Bogdan Gumenyuk Quartet, featuring special guest Anastasiya Struk.Internationally acclaimed Ukrainian saxophonist, composer, and producer Bogdan Gumenyuk brings together jazz, Ukrainian folk music, electronics, and spoken word in a performance that connects tradition with contemporary sound.
The program features a remarkable collection of traditional Ukrainian wind instruments, from flutes to the trembita — the long Carpathian mountain horn rarely seen on Montreal stages. Presented in Ukrainian, English, and French, the evening also includes poetry that offers a window into Ukrainian culture, history, and identity.
A Fulbright Scholar, Bogdan has performed with artists including Jamala, Okean Elzy, Curtis Fuller, and Benito Gonzalez. Now based in Montreal, he continues to build bridges between musical traditions, audiences, and cultures.
