About this Event
This 3.5 hour workshop is designed for members of the mental health arena who are interested in learning and exploring more about body image and how it can have an impact on our client's daily lives.
What is Body Image?
Ultimately, body image is just us noticing our bodies. From there, we tend to assign judgments or recall messaging we’ve been told or have internalized about our bodies. For some, the judgements/messaging can be neutral or positive and maybe on a harder day, negative. For others, noticing the body can be really distressing and cause disruptions throughout the day. Intense body image distress can take away from being present and living life fully. This workshop is designed to help you have a better understanding of body image and ways to build skills and/or change the narrative our clients have with their bodies.
In this workshop, you will be able to:
* Identify and understand the difference between body acceptance & body neutrality
*Define body image
*Ability to identify 3 skills to use to challenge the systems in place that pressure an individual’s body image
Abby Hansen (she/her/they/them) and Kristin Southworth (she/her) are your amazing presenters who have a combined 10+ years of experience working with body image and body image distress.
