As a society, we have indoctrinated women into believing in conventional beauty standards, so much so that we have forgotten about what makes each and every one of us beautiful and unique. “Body+” was created as a way to empower women of the community and help them heal from the unhealthy standards and societal beliefs that we as women experience.“Body+” started as a concept by Vazquez, who was inspired by Lizzo’s show about dancers. Vazquez wanted to bring body positive to the community and offer a view of women who want to see themselves as beautiful, when conventional beauty standards put them aside.
Ashley Brody, decided the project would be a great outlet to heal from their own grieving process.
Together, they decided to execute a pledge to make ALL women of the community feel comfortable and beautiful who stepped in front of the camera, in hopes of helping them heal from the stigma that you are undesirable or “less than” if you are not a conventional beauty.
