This 5-day tour covers a lot of ground! A few days in the city of Bamberg itself and a few days out in the countryside, enjoying the scenery, culture, breweries, atmosphere, history and of course beers…specifically BOCK BEERS!
From early October into early January is bock beer season in most parts of Franconia! Most breweries have at least one seasonal fall/winter bock and a „Bockbieranstich“ tapping event to go alongside with it! It is a very special time for beer drinking locals! The tapping events are used to meet with old friends and philosophy about the seasons best bock beers! The actual tapping events are usually quite overrun and crowded, but the bock beers are still available for quite a while after. Never the less, we will go to at least one „Bockbieranstich“ during the tour!
These tapping events have developed from small, only frequented by brewery regulars events into huge parties with live bands and hundreds of visitors in the past 30 years…!
The 5-day tour offers a very in depth view of the local beer scene. Bamberg is amazing and the „Beer Capital of Germany“, but none the less, it is only the tip of the iceberg! So we will also visit breweries and sites outside of Bamberg!
The nature of this tour gives us a little more leeway in activities, time, shedule and free time for participants to explore a bit on their own! We will spend about half the time in the city of Bamberg itself and half the time in the Upper Franconian countryside.
The dates for this tour are set from Wednesday to Sunday and at a time where a maximum amount of local bock beers are available, before it gets too cold and before the first bocks start to be sold out!
EACH FIVE DAY TOUR INCLUDES AT LEAST
- Hotel room for Wednesday to Monday
morning (5 Nights). The standard price
is for a two-person room. A single room
option is also available for those who
wish to have a room to themselves
- Breakfast at the Hotel
- Brewery visits are the backbone of
these tours! We will visit an average of
four to five breweries per day. Each visit
includes at least one beer.
- One tour of a brewery or other major
beer industry/culture relevant site, per
day.
- One beer tasting (with multiple beers)
at one of the brewery locations, per
day.
- Lunch AND Dinner at a
„Brauereigasthof“ (brewery
restaurant/inn), every day. Each meal
includes a beer or other beverage
- ALL transportation DURING the tour
- …and of course being guided at all
times by an English speaking, local Beer
