Integrating UAS into the National Airspace — Practical Lessons from Miami’s Front Lines
Overview:
Join fellow pilots for a practical, pilot-focused seminar on safely integrating unmanned aircraft systems into the National Airspace System. Using ten years of firsthand experience operating UAS in one of the nation’s busiest airspaces, Josué Tirado will share mission-focused case studies, risk-mitigation techniques, and procedural improvements that enhance safety and operational performance.
What pilots will take away:
Clear, actionable guidance for planning UAS operations in congested airspace
Airspace deconfliction and best practices relevant to both manned and unmanned operations
Incident-driven lessons that informed new safety procedures and compliance strategies

Speaker:
Josué Tirado — retired land surveyor and veteran UAS pilot for Miami-Dade County Public Works. Josué is a certificated pilot and CFII with degrees in engineering, drafting, and land surveying, plus a Master’s in Unmanned Systems from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He has taught at Columbus State University and Broward College and brings practical, pilot-centered insight from a decade of operations in congested airspace.

The Boca Raton Pilots Association meeting is free to all. We will start at 6:30PM with pizza, drinks and socializing, followed by our speaker at 7:00 PM. There will be time for questions and answers after our speaker. We meet monthly, usually the first Wednesday of every month except there are no meetings in July, August and December. In December instead of our monthly meeting we hold a holiday event.
