About Bobby Bazini's new album:
L’idée du concept de Seul au cinéma lui est venue lors de la tournée de Pearl. Pour un concert à Saint-Eustache, il s’est retrouvé à jouer dans une salle faisant partie d’un complexe de cinéma. Durant l’après-midi, après le test de son, la gérante de salle lui a offert de passer l’après-midi à y errer en toute liberté. Il s’est donc préparé un popcorn et a parcouru les salles, entrant et sortant à sa guise, parfois après quelques minutes, parfois plus longtemps. Il n’y avait aucune indication à l’entrée des salles, il ne savait jamais ce qu’il allait voir : film d’horreur, comédie romantique, film québécois populaire. Cette expérience l’a profondément marqué. Il a eu l’impression de traverser des fragments d’histoires, comme s’il passait d’un rêve à un autre, sans jamais en voir la fin:
Seul au cinéma! Neuf salles. Neuf chansons. Neuf films racontant une quête d’identité, celle de Bobby, à travers la solitude.

The concept for Seul au cinéma came to him during the Pearl tour. While playing a show in Saint-Eustache, Bobby found himself performing in a venue that was part of a movie theatre complex. That afternoon, after soundcheck, the venue manager offered him free rein to roam the cinemas. He made himself a bucket of popcorn and wandered from screening room to screening room, coming and going freely — sometimes staying for just a few minutes, sometimes longer. There were no signs outside the doors, so he never knew what he was walking into: a horror film, a romantic comedy, a popular Quebec feature. The experience stayed with him. It felt like drifting through fragments of stories, like hopping from one dream to another, never seeing how any of them ended:
Seul au cinéma — Alone at the Movies. Nine rooms. Nine songs. Nine films telling a story of identity, Bobby’s story, through solitude.
