The Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles is happy to announce that Eva Gergely will be teaching “ Bobbin Lace: a 5 hr Continuation Workshop” on Saturday, March 26, 2022. For those who have attended Eva’s Beginning Bobbin Lace, this is a prime opportunity to build on the skills that you learned (and have been practicing.)This class is designed for those who have taken the Beginner's Class with Eva, as well as anyone else who is familiar with the basic motions and stitches of Bobbin Lace: The Whole Stitch, Half Stitch, and Linen Stitch.
You will learn how to combine various stitches and create simple patterns, motifs, grounds, and spider stitches. You will learn the basics of Torchon Lace and Idrija Lace as well as how to use a crochet hook for basic joinings.
It is assumed that students already have the basic tools and materials for bobbin lace. If not, they can be purchased at the Museum shop.
Eva Gergely dynamically brings bobbin lace to the 21st century, where she combines traditional motifs, symbols, and techniques of Hungarian folk culture with modern elements, focusing once again on contemporary fashion and creativity in wearable elements
.
Visiting from Hungary, Eva is an artist, singer, designer, and lace maker exhibiting at prestigious exhibitions in Europe.
The class fee is $65.00
You may register at the museum shop or by phone (510-843-7290) during regular business hours (Monday through Saturday, 12:00 – 6:00 PM.)
