Bob McNeill @ Acoustic Routes Wellington
Recorded in Wellington and with its stories driven by years of playing music in New Zealand's high country, the album explores themes of life, age and transition, re-imagined as a trip down three iconic rivers - the Manuherikia in the South Island, the Waikato in the North Island, and the Kelvin in McNeill's native Scotland. Poignant, celebratory and unflinching, with McNeill playing all the instruments himself, and mostly composed of first takes, it's McNeill's most intimate work to date, with some of his most beautiful songs.
McNeill's songs have been covered by artists in NZ, Australia, the UK and USA. New Zealand Musician magazine compared his songwriting to Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler; the Dominion Post likened him to Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Luka Bloom and Dougie MacLean. A compelling storyteller, his songs paint vivid pictures of the moments of decision in people's lives. He has three New Zealand Music Awards (Tuis), all for Best Folk Album.
Don't miss this intimate live show from one of New Zealand's finest folk musicians.
