About this Event
About the Book:
How Do You Help a Giraffe Laugh? is the first of a series of books for young kids focused on how all of us - humans and animals - can work together to help each other grow and succeed in life.
About the Author and Illustrator:
Bob Hill spent nearly 60 years in journalism, writing more than 4,000 columns for the Courier Journal and Louisville Times. He’s the recipient of the Ernie Pyle Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Bob also wrote 14 books, including two on gardening and one on the Belle of Louisville paddle wheeler. He also conducted interviews with Humana Health founder David A. Jones for his memoir, Always Moving Forward. Many of Bob’s columns are collected in his 2024 memoir, Out Here. In 2025, Bob launched a new career as a children’s book author, collaborating with illustrator Donna Krabill.
Donna Krabill is a retired education specialist who taught 17 years in public schools in Miami and Sarasota, Florida. After a life-changing expedition to the Peruvian Amazon, she left the classroom and began a new adventure in botanical gardens. Here, she successfully led and developed educational programs, exhibits and activities to connect youth and adults to the natural world. Her unique experiences led her to her latest adventure of illustrating children's books.
