About this Event
There is an old Chassidic story about a Rebbe who gives over a very great and deep talk, a ma'amar about everything. Afterwards, one of his chassidim comes up and says, "Rebbe, I didn't understand anything of what you said, not one word." So the Rebbe takes the chassid aside, and sings him a niggun (a devotional melody). The chassid then replies, "Ah, I understand now." Sometimes we try so hard to find the right words, when the melody carries the message, both ineffable and true.
Please join us for a sensory-filled, melody-rich, ritual of Havdalah, where we mark the liminal space between Shabbat and the coming week. (This will not be your typical Havdalah!)
We'll then come together for a festive meal with more niggunim -- called a Melavah Malkah, where we escort the Divine Feminine or the Shabbat Queen out into everyday life (a kind of counterpoint to Lecha Dodi, where we welcome Her in).
