More info:
BLYTH POWER were formed in 1983 by singer and drummer Joseph Porter, formerly of Zounds and The Mob. Even after forty years the band are still surprising audiences with their evolving blend of folk and punk rock. ‘The Power Behind The Throne’, released this summer, is the band’s 12th studio album and their first release for almost a decade. The long-awaited new album has reinvigorated the sound of Blyth Power while building on the band’s long history of unique songwriting.
Pog is a 6 piece folk punk band from Brighton that was inspired in equal parts by the sun-drenched pop of Sarah Records and the politics of Crass. As a result, this violin, piano and accordion led acoustic thrashabout sits awkwardly somewhere between the two. Everyday vignettes of lives made remarkable by their mundanity, Pog has been in operation since 2000 and has played everywhere you can fit a band their size, from living rooms and poetry cafes all the way to festivals and squatted universities.
Formed in 2019 by singer/drummer/songwriter Peter Hirst when he was just ten years old, INDIGNATION MEETING are a punk rock band whose musical influences are not hard to spot (see above), with lyrics that reflect Peter’s enthusiasm for railways, steam locomotives, stuffed toys and more railways. Their debut album, Trouble In The Shed, was released in January, and a new recording of live favourite That Leeds Feeling will be out on 7” vinyl soon. This will be another outing for the full ‘garden fence of sound’ Indignation Meeting experience, with Peter & his dad joined by regular bass behemoth Hugo Hatcher, growly guitarist Keith, and Jemima & Puddleduck on backing vocals.
Please note: Wharf Chambers is a members’ club – annual membership is just £2, but non-members can be signed in on the day. See: https://www.wharfchambers.org/membership/
