Blues dance is a family of Black American social dances (some solo, some partnered) that coevolved with different styles of Blues music throughout history, starting in the late 1800s and extending through today. Blues dance celebrates freedom of expression within community, improvisation, rhythm, and more!
**Evening schedule**
7-8pm: Stride skills applied to R&B
8-9pm: Community Studio + pizza
9-11pm: DJed R&B/Blues dance party
**What is R&B night?**
R&B night is a fresh night of music that leans outside the usual genres of blues--but still supports blues dancing and centers Black artists--because Black American music & social dances are both rooted *and* adapting/changing. Get your party on, and dress up if you like! Dress theme to be announced.
**Class info**
Stride has some similarities to a dance from Philadelphia now called Philly Strand. In this class, we'll play with adapting our Stride to R&B, doowop, and other music, while sharing a bit about Philly Strand and where you can learn it. We'll also include some review of the Stride, for folks who haven't attended previous Stride classes.
**Pricing**
Sliding scale $10-25, free for volunteers & staff. No one turned away due to lack of funds. Cash or Venmo at the door. Presale tickets coming soon

🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ This is a queer-friendly space, and everyone can choose the dance role or roles they prefer.
