blues @ temperance | Laurence Jones // Amy Eftekhari
About this Event
His gig in December sold out very quickly, but he's agreed to come back again for this show!
Laurence Jones is an award-winning and critically acclaimed blues artist from Liverpool. He has opened for the likes of Ringo Starr, Sir Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, Walter Trout and recently Status Quo.
After Joining Buddy Guy on stage to jam and experience the blues first hand, Buddy Guy said "He’s like a young Eric Clapton" and that pretty much says it all.
Laurence has just released his most personal album to date, his first ever solo acoustic blues album. ‘On My Own’ is an intimate record that explores recent health struggles and takes him back to his roots where it all began. ‘Real & raw, his most honest work yet’ - Classic Rock Magazine
The album marks a new chapter for Jones, following what he describes as the most difficult time of his life battling Crohn’s disease. Written during a flare up, On My Own reflects raw truths about living with this invisible disease, for Jones it represents both survival and reinvention On My Own is a story driven record, weaving traditional blues with honest autobiographical story telling.
Doctor’s orders meant Jones had to re-think his high energy stage performances, the change sparked a new creative path that’s raw and organic. Living with Crohn’s disease has shaped not only Jone’s music but also his perspective, as an ambassador for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, he hopes the album will resonate with others facing any struggles & invisible disease.
Determined to do things differently in the music industry he set up his own independent record label – Ron Records, named in loving memory of his Grandad. His guitar journey started at the age of 8 on the classical guitar Laurence went on to achievie Grade 8 distinction. Now fused with his lifelong passion for the Blues and playing homage to some of his blues heroes like Robert Johnson and Lightnin Hopkins. This is a blues show not to be missed!
