About this Event

Jimmy Regal and the Royals

Formed in South London in 2016, Jimmy Regal and The Royals are a powerhouse trio bringing a fresh and diverse take on traditional blues. The band comprises of Joff Watkins on vocals and harmonica, CJ Williams on guitar, and Sammy Samuels on drums. United by their passion for the deep-rooted sounds of New Orleans and Mississippi, the trio also draws inspiration from the vibrant musical landscapes of Senegal, Canvey Island, and South London home.

Their previous studio release, First and Last Stop, took the blues scene by storm. The album soared to #1 in the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association charts and was honoured as their pick of the month. Internationally, it dominated the Roots Music Report charts, holding the title of the #1 most played UK act for several weeks and achieving a top 10 spot in the US Contemporary Blues charts. This acclaim culminated in a top five nomination for the Best Blues album at the UK Blues Awards 2024. Jimmy Regal and The Royals have shared the stage with legendary acts such as GRAMMY Award winner Cedric Burnside, The B.B. King Band and Billboard chart-toppers GA-20. Their dynamic performances have captivated audiences at major festivals and venues, including The Ealing Blues Festival, The UK Blues Rhythm and Rock Festival and the iconic 100 Club in London. In 2026,they played the Kafou Music Festival in Dakar, Senegal, as a guest of griot musician and kora player Diabel Cissokho.

With a sound that spans continents and a live show that leaves a lasting impression, Jimmy Regal and The Royals are taking the true spirit of blues to a new generation.
