DESCRIPTION:
Berlin Biguine plays the music of the French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, with a focus on the 1930s to 1950s style, when musicians of the distant colonies took over the nightlife of Paris with their clarinets, trombones, drums, and guitars. Biguine music is more than an invitation to dancing; it tells the story of how the Creoles absorbed European melodies and American jazz music and fused them with their ancestral African rhythms to turn them into the most irresistibly danceable and yet melancholic music. Berlin Biguine will take you on a trip to these faraway islands across the Atlantic; sailing the waves of the drums and the clarinet, you’ll soon forget all your worries and cares while swaying your hips to this new rhythm: Biguine!
