Blues for an Alabama Sky is a drama set in 1930s Harlem during the Great Depression. The play follows five friends—Angel, Guy, Delia, Sam, and Leland—whose dreams and relationships collide in a time of social upheaval. Angel, a struggling nightclub singer, and Guy, a costume designer aiming for Paris, navigate love, loss, and ambition. Delia, a social worker, and Sam, a doctor, push for progress in women’s health, while Leland, a Southern newcomer, brings conservative ideals that clash with the group’s values. The play explores themes of hope, identity, and resilience.
