Legend of the mid-2000’s underground hip-hop movement, Columbus MC/Producer Blueprint celebrates the 20-year anniversary of his debut solo album 1988, by playing the album in its entirety. The show will celebrate not only the classic songs that made the album special, but also the music that inspired its creation.
Universally considered a classic underground hip-hop album, Blueprint's debut 1988 was originally released by Rhymesayers Entertainment in 2005 and gave birth to iconic songs such as “Boombox”, “Big Girls Need Love Too”, and "Lo-Fi Funk" featuring Aesop Rock. After establishing his name as 1/2 of Soul Position with producer RJD2, 1988 solidified Blueprint as a legitimate solo artist and producer in his own right. Although vinyl for the album has been out of print for the last twenty years, the album will be re-released on Blueprint's label Weightless Recordings in 2025.
Performers for the event include Blueprint with DJ Detox and special guest DJ Rare Groove, who will be playing a special DJ set of classic beats, breaks, and original samples. Come experience a celebration of the Blueprint's debut album and the music from what is universally considered one of the best years in hip-hop--1988.
