Blue explores abstraction as an immersive experience where Jayshree Savani engages with colour intuitively rather than through theory or narrative. Across the works, blue functions as an evolving field that expands, contracts, settles, and disperses, creating shifting visual conditions. Through translucent layers, drips, washes, and pooled passages, the paintings balance spontaneity with a meditative process, allowing perception to unfold gradually.
Savani’s practice follows a tradition of abstraction that values presence over representation. While the paintings do not depict landscapes, skies, or seas, they evoke similar spatial and emotional sensations. Subtle horizon-like bands, submerged forms, and tonal shifts occasionally appear before dissolving back into the pictorial field, creating an interiorised terrain where colour becomes both structure and experience.
Rather than offering resolution, Blue invites sustained viewing, where meaning emerges not from what is depicted but from what is felt — within the quiet tension between movement and stillness, immersion and distance, surface and depth.
