America's Toughest Road Races: Blue Ridge Double Marathon (That's 52.4 Miles!)
Taking place in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge, this is THE road race for ultra runners. The race begins and ends in Elmwood Park and will summit three mountains, TWICE:
⛰️Roanoke Mountain along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway,
⛰️Mill Mountain (passing in front of the famous Mill Mountain Star)
⛰️And the infamous Peakwood (don't worry, there's champagne at the top ? ?)
For years, a group of dedicated (some might argue crazy) runners have shown up in the middle of the night before the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon. The now-official “double” has gained popularity and sees nearly 100 runners annually burning the midnight oil to run 52.4 miles within fourteen hours (many finish in 8-9 hours). The first lap starts in the middle of the night, the second begins with all the other Blue Ridge Races at 7:35am.

What's included:
- A scenic course packed with aid stations (on the second lap), epic Blue Ridge Mountain photo ops, and cheering fans at almost every turn
- On the first lap, runners have their choice of start times: 1:00AM or 2:30AM, and will have support vehicles to assist with emergencies and water in the wee-hours
