About our artists:
RICARDO CALVO AND SANDRA MESSINA
They learned with the great tango masters of the 80 & 90’s, and they have more than 30 years of international experience. Together since 2005, they form a dance partner in a meeting of ideas and knowledge, resulting in a particular dance style that unites traditional tango with their own original creations. With techniques extracted from the observation of the dance, they create a revolutionary method of integral education of Tango using a complete and efficient pedagogy, dedicated to the teaching of amateurs and the training of professionals. They share their time between Buenos Aires and Paris, spreading their art; traveling the world participating in international Festivals and Tango shows. In Buenos Aires and abroad they are considered as one of the leading tango couples and have been awarded as ambassadors of the genre. They participate every year as teachers in the CITA International Festival of Buenos Aires.
HECTOR DEL CURTO
Praised by the New York Times as a "splendid player," Grammy-winning musician, composer, recording artist and educator Hector Del Curto is one of the world’s most sought–after bandoneonists. He has performed with many renowned artists across musical genres, and appeared with the world's leading orchestras, including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
BARRIO TANGO ORCHESTRA
The Barrio Tango Orchestra is a vibrant community of musicians at all levels, brought together by a shared love of tango. Based in New York, our orchestra creates a unique bridge between the worlds of social dancing and live music. Through weekly rehearsals and group coaching with experienced maestros, we come together to learn, grow, and celebrate this beautiful art form.
We also organize special events to showcase professional tango musicians, providing a space where dancers and musicians can connect, share their passion, and experience the magic of tango together.
