The show uses humour and belly-aching laughter, to highlight the absurd realities of caste, other intersecting forms of oppression and the importance of seeking, creating and amplifying Joy among it all.
Associated with the anti-caste movement, the color blue signifies the sky, a symbol of non-discrimination, under which everyone is treated equally while at the same time 'Blue' comedy is a genre of comedy that is often labelled off-color, risqué, indecent or profane. Which is exactly the duality that inspired our name - Blue Material!
We are a Mumbai based, Dalit-led, queer affirmative comedy collective. And for the fist time ever, we’re going on the record!
Taking place over 90 entertainment packed minutes, our all Dalit standup comedy line up show features multiple hilarious comedians with deeply engaging performances grounded within the personal as well as the political.
