About this Event

HHMI's Tangled Bank Studios film

Travel from the vibrant streets of the USA to stunning landscapes across Senegal, Vietnam, France, Colombia, and Brazil as the film uncovers the science behind Blue Carbon —the ocean's ability to absorb carbon through salt marshes, seagrasses, and mangroves.

Time is of the essence as we witness the devastating effects of climate change, particularly in St. Louis, Senegal, where communities are being engulfed by rising seas. Join fearless explorer Jayda as she investigates a promising carbon offset project in the Sine Saloum Delta, only to discover that the very companies behind it are major polluters, exploiting local labor.

In Northern Colombia, hope shines in Cispata Bay, where a pioneering Blue Carbon project empowers the community to control their carbon credit future.

Blue Carbon: The Power Within challenges your views on climate change and inspires action, revealing how the resilience of people and ecosystems can pave the way for a sustainable future. Prepare to be moved and motivated to help protect our communities.
