Blown Away On The Bayou

Blown Away On The Bayou (BAOTB) was originally designed to be a harmonica instructional camp, specializing in Blues and Cajun Music. We will indeed be offering in-depth instruction for beginning, intermediate, and advanced harmonica players. We will also be offering group instruction for other instruments in the context of ensemble playing. Please check out the schedule section for more details on this.

There will be hands-on harmonica instruction and seminars during the day and the evenings will be full of jamming and dances with local Cajun, Zydeco and Blues Bands as well as some out of town musicians.

BAOTB takes place October 20-23, 2022 in the Louisiana countryside in the Opelousas part of Acadiana, just outside of Lafayette. Lafayette has a very convenient airport. Our camp takes place right before the Blackpot Festival.

There are on-site housing options available as well as rooms at a nearby hotel, on hold for us, and at a group rate. Transportation will be provided for out of town students from the airport and back, and to and from the hotel. You won’t need a car during the camp time.

The camp will be catered by Jolie Meaux, a renowned Cajun Chef. She will be providing the usual three meals a day as well as snacks. She’ll have traditional Cajun and non-Cajun options at meal time. Vegetarian, Gluten-free, and Dairy-free choices will be available as well. If you have other dietary restrictions, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
