Blooming Bag: Ice Dyeing Flower PatternInstructor: Chelsea *Sparks*
For ages 18+
You’ve been dyeing to do it. And Chelsea will teach you how to ice dye! In this class you will learn how to tie the “bloom” flower pattern on a large cotton tote bag. This class is broken into 2 parts. The first day you tie & dye. The second day, 24 hours after you put ice on your tote bag, you return to pick up your piece after the ice has melted. You will take your tote bag home and rinse & wash them in your own washing machine. You will be given a special detergent and instructions for these last steps.
To completely protect yourself the first day, you will need a dust mask*, this is NOT optional. The dyes we use are made of very small particles. If the weather cooperates we will be dyeing outside. Wear work clothes, not street clothes. Gloves will be provided.
At the end of the day you will leave your piece to “melt”. 24 hours later, no sooner, you return to pick up your pieces.
The only supplies you will need to bring:
An apron (not just work clothes, you’ll want to have something you can remove)
1 Dust mask required (*this CANNOT be a paper medical mask)
1 Lingerie bag
Pen & paper to take notes
