Bloom Theory by Kemare Garner
About this Event
Artist Statement
I don’t paint because I have all the answers. I paint because it’s the only way I know how to make sense of what I’m feeling.
Every piece I create begins with an emotion before it becomes an image. Sometimes it’s grief. Sometimes it’s hope. Sometimes it’s change, fear, love, or the quiet moments in between that don’t have a name yet. Painting allows me to slow down and sit with those feelings instead of rushing past them.
Flowers, colors and symbolism have become a language in my work. They remind me that growth isn’t linear and healing isn’t something we do just once. We bloom, we wither, we begin again. Every season of life changes us, and I believe there’s beauty in allowing ourselves to become someone new without forgetting who we’ve been.
Bloom Theory comes from that belief. To me, it represents the version of ourselves that exists after we’ve survived, learned, and chosen to keep growing. Not because life suddenly became easy, but because we did.
I don’t want my paintings to tell people what to feel. I want them to make space for whatever they’re already carrying. If someone walks away feeling seen, understood, or simply reminded that growth can be quiet and messy and still be beautiful, then my work has done what I hoped it would.
These paintings are pieces of my own journey, but once they’re on the wall, they become an invitation—for anyone willing to pause, reflect, and find a little of themselves within them.
