About this Event
Welcome to Bloom into Spring: Herbal Tea and Plant Workshop! Join us at Los Angeles State Historic Park for a hands-on workshop, exploring the theme of caring for ourselves and each other through:
- Meditative tea tasting
- Collectively creating an herbal tea blend to support immunity and seasonal transition
- Learning about planting and growing medicinal plants from the Asian diaspora
Workshop participants will take home a bag of herbal tea and a medicinal plant from Cultural Roots Nursery.
Facilitators:
Li Schmidt (she/her) is a farmer and storyteller based in Los Angeles, CA. She started Cultural Roots Nursery in 2020 with a mission to heal the connection between the Asian diaspora and ancestral foodways by increasing the abundance and availability of culturally important heritage plants. By fostering education and empowerment around learning how to grow food, she works to support a food system where all can access culturally relevant foods. She holds a M.S. in Community Development with a focus on sustainable food systems and is a farmer member of the California Farmer Justice Collaborative and the Asian American Farmers Alliance.
Kimberly Chou Tsun An is a writer, community organizer, culture worker and landworker based in Brooklyn, NY, with roots in Detroit, MI and Taiwan.
