Join us for a FREE education event, “Blood Cancer in Flint” on Sunday, October 6th at Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church & Outreach Center (3020 Dupont St, Flint, MI 48504) from 12:30-2:30pm. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register today at na.eventscloud.com/FLINT. Blood cancer patients, survivors, loved ones, healthcare providers and the community at large are welcome to join us. Participants will learn what types of blood cancers members of the Black community are more likely to be diagnosed with, especially in Flint; ways to reduce the risk of some of these cancers; what to do if you or your loved one is diagnosed; how to access quality care; how to identify members of the healthcare team that can assist patients in navigating their care; and ways to effectively communicate throughout the treatment journey.
Our program will feature local experts Dr. Craig Cole, Hematologist/Oncologist and myeloma expert from Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Aneyshua Turnipseed, LMSW-C, OSW-C, and Flint community cancer advocate, Arthur Woodson.
