About this Event
The Farm Alliance of Baltimore and the National Wildlife Federation have teamed up to create a series titled Pollinators & Produce for urban farmers, community gardeners, and backyard growers in and around Baltimore. Join us as the series culminates with our BLISS Meadows Tour, facilitated by Jordan Bethea of Backyard Basecamp!
BLISS Meadows is a project of Backyard Basecamp, a formerly vacant property that has been turned into an urban farm and nature education space, features pollinator gardens, ponds, scenic walking trails, and more! BLISS Meadows is a fantastic example of how urban farms can catalyze the movement towards more sustainable communities.
Building on previous workshop topics such as native pollinators, garden design, and environmental stewardship, this engaging tour will provide the opportunity to explore several different pollinator habitats and see firsthand how native gardens in your growing spaces is an outstanding benefit for both pollinators and produce.
About the Speaker
Jordan Bethea works as the farm manager for Backyard Basecamp. Jordan was originally inspired to become involved in urban agriculture after seeing so many communities in the city go underserved by not having access to healthy produce. At Backyard Basecamp, Jordan is part of a movement to reclaim unused land, remediate soil depleted of nutrients, and restore the area back to functionality and safe use for all neighbors.
About the Series
This series of workshops are meant to provide education/tips on identifying and attracting pollinators, as well as creating welcoming habitats that support them in your growing spaces.
