***SPECIAL MEETING***Blind Date with a Book Event
Let’s celebrate the season of giving! Our event, Blind Date with a Book (white elephant style), will occur on MONDAY, DECEMBER 1st as a fun way to share a book we love and get to know each other more. See below for details on how to participate and the plan of action for the event.
To participate:
* Select a new or like new book you want to gift (yes, used books can be gifted as long as they are in like new condition)
* Write the genre and up to 3 hints about the book on a tag or the wrapping itself (I.e. romance, enemies to lovers, sports, spicy, etc.)
* Bring wrapped book (with the tag) to the meeting(s) of your choice - see examples in the comments of this post
* Gift only one book per meeting
At meeting:
* Sign in with moderator upon arrival
* Moderator will collect book while you write your name on a slip of paper to enter the swap
* At 615pm-ish, moderator will begin drawing names at random
* When your name is called, you can select any book and unwrap it
* The next person called can choose an unwrapped book or “steal” from any of the previously chosen books
* This will continue until all participants have been called and have a book
* At the completion of the swap, you are welcome to trade and swap with others, especially if you end up with a duplicate title
Please note: These meetings will be more social than reading unless time allows. You are more than welcome to attend the meeting as an observer if you choose not to participate.
