Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th- 15th October) is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to remember our much-loved and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
Few experiences can compare to the trauma and pain of pregnancy and baby loss. During this Baby Loss Awareness Week, we will acknowledge that finding ways to nurture your mental and physical wellbeing is a vital part of anyone’s bereavement journey.
The 'Together, we care' theme this year is about finding time to care for ourselves, and each other, as part of a community of people affected by all forms of pregnancy and baby loss.
This year we are creating a display at Crichton Central cafe within the Crichton Royal.
This year our ribbons are being lovingly created by local knitters, and if you would like to pin a ribbon in memory of your baby or pregnancy, please feel free to join us as we create our display on Tuesday the 8th of October at 6pm. Or we will leave a supply for you to pin up when you can.
Sara Campbell Dodds is also hosting a wall of remembrance in Kircudbright and a cake sale to raise funds. Details of both below.
BLAW culminates with the “Wave of Light” An opportunity to join with bereaved parents, families and friends around the globe to commemorate all babies who sadly died too soon. It takes place at 7pm on 15 October every year.
Join the global #WaveOfLight on Friday 15th Oct at 7pm to remember all babies that have died too soon in white text on purple background
To join the global ‘Wave of Light’, simply light a candle at 7pm local time on 15 October and leave it burning for at least one hour. This can be done individually or in a group, at home or in a communal space. Wherever you do this, you will be joining a global ‘Wave of Light’ in memory of all the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.
Post a photo of your candle to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag using #WaveOfLight.

You can also join Sands for live lighting of the candle on our Facebook at 7pm on 15th of October every year.
