Blank Canvas: Grasshopper 2 from the Ground Up
About this Event
GH2 isn't an incremental update to Grasshopper — it's a full rewrite with new data structures, a new component library, and a different underlying approach to building algorithms. The workshop treats "no prior GH1 experience" as a feature, not a gap.
A progressive sequence of guided exercises building fluency with GH2's fundamentals — canvas navigation, data flow, data types, lists, and the components that manipulate them. By the afternoon, participants are assembling multi-step definitions on their own.
Works equally well for absolute beginners and seasoned GH1 users encountering GH2 for the first time — no prior Rhino, Grasshopper, or programming knowledge required.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the GH2 canvas and data flow
- Work with GH2's native data types, lists, and matching behavior
- Use core geometry, math, and logic components for parametric relationships
- Read and debug an unfamiliar GH2 definition
- Understand GH2's architectural differences from GH1
- Access the Rhino MCP GH2 Tools
