Life has become a nightmare for a local family these past few months
After a tragic accident
Blakey Bob Vossmer has had medical issues that have done nothing but compounded, this has kept him in Children's Mercy ICU for over a month. He recently had surgery to have a tracheotomy and a g tube placed to help him breathe and have a better quality of life. He still has a long road to recovery.
The hope is to get him home back with his family in October but he will need round the clock care and possibly still be on a ventilator.
To help out this family, who let's be honest are famous in their own right. A plan has been put in place to have a BBQ show down to raise money for this young couple
Rules are very simple
There is no exact dish you need to make, it just needs to be a main dish, preferably meat
Everything will be served outside
Food needs to be brought in already cooked, there is no electricity or water, please keep that in mind.
The chefs are asked to make servings for at least 20 people, the plates needed will be provided, please bring your own serving utensils
Dishes must be presented by 1:30, so that judging can begin at 2.
5.00 entry fee for BBQ contestant 2-1st place winners,
1 popular & 1 by judges.
Anyone can buy a ticket to taste test and vote for your favorite chef!
5.00 to taste test/judge meat only
Plates available with 2 meats, 2 sides, 1 dessert
10.00 adults and 5.00 for kids.
Drinks available for purchase.
Raffle/Auction. Will be running throughout the day
Any donated sides would be greatly appreciated. Sign up sheets will be at the bar to register your BBQ entry, volunteers and anything extra you want to bring in.
We will absolutely need several volunteers for different things throughout the day and donations of tangible items, the list will be out asap for what's needed and how many bodies we need to make this run seamlessly
Any items donated for raffles or auctions can also be taken to the bar at your earliest convenience
Donated items must be given to the bartender to be put up for safe keeping.
