Happy 28 Days of Black Cosplay! Happy Black History Month!
*HISTORY & CONTEXT*
28 Days of Black Cosplay is a movement created by Chaka Cumberbatch (@princessology) in 2015 to highlight and celebrate Black cosplayers throughout Black History Month. The hashtag has been vital to giving representation to an often-underrepresented group.
Black History Month (formerly Negro History Week) was conceptualized by Carter G. Woodson to raise awareness of the vital contributions Black people have made in the United States, and subsequently around the world.
Woodson was an alumnus of West Virginia State University, the second Black man to earn his Ph.D. (after WEB Du Bois) and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
