Join us on April 24 as we gather during National Poetry Month for our spring showcase! We are pleased to feature literary legend Peculiar-i and poetry/film hybrid trailblazer Affie "Dess" Spence. Hosted by Greg Frankson.
Our literary open mic kicks off our evening with words shared by local scribes. The open mic will be family-friendly; sign-ups begin on-site at 6:30 pm, before the show begins (5-min max per writer). Come early to get a spot!

Cash bar, refreshments, and goods available for purchase from the Centre's snack bar, local businesses The Baker's Lab, Patty Gyal, and Greatest Blends, and our community of Black writers.

BlackLit Durham is a bimonthly literary arts event produced by the Canadian Black Literary Festival, presented in partnership with AfriCANthology Canada, Ajax Public Library, What's Your Story - Author Services, and St. Francis Centre for Community, Arts, and Culture. The series is designed to showcase, highlight, amplify, and celebrate Black Canadian literary voices of all genres in their full splendour and diversity.
