BlackFest 2026 Presents: Visual Arts Workshop with Alena Kudera
About this Event
Event Description
BlackFest 2026 presents a special visual arts workshop with artist, designer and maker Alena Kudera at Granby Winter Garden.
Join Alena as she shares her creative practice and explores the possibilities of textiles, deconstruction, sustainability and material storytelling.
Alena Kudera is a visual artist, designer and maker whose practice transforms discarded and unwanted garments, textiles and objects through craftsmanship and creative reinvention. Her work explores clothing as a language and the body as a canvas, drawing on folk motifs, sensory patterns and sculpture.
Rooted in a Czech childhood shaped by scarcity, resourcefulness and imagination, Alena's practice brings together luxury, circularity and sustainable creativity. Her work challenges ideas around modern overconsumption and explores how discarded materials can be given new life, meaning and value.
Alongside her studio practice, Alena delivers workshops with arts organisations, supporting participants to explore identity, creativity and value through material engagement.
This workshop offers an opportunity to learn more about Alena's practice, explore creative approaches to materials and connect with ideas around sustainability, identity and making.
