About this Event

World HEART Day

"World Heart Day is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. Through this campaign, the World Heart Federation unites people from all countries and backgrounds in the fight against the CVD burden and inspires and drives international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the world. "

In correlation with this BlackFest have commissioned two workshop facilitators, BayTree cooking supporting the most vulnerable members of the community with access not just to fresh, healthy food but the skills to turn it into exciting nutritious meals and B4BioDiversity for an educational workshop and activity based on the theme of world heart day, sustainability and bee populations.

While we think about the health of our hearts we can learn about the health of the planet and what we as individuals and a collective can do to help.

Attendees will receive information on cutting down food waste and single use plastics, our event is designed to support you to reduce your carbon footprint and gain understanding on biodiversity with Andrea Ku making beeswax candles and how you can get involved in supporting the environment and bee populations.

Andrea Ku - Biodiversity

"My name is Andrea Ku, an artist from L8 and founder of B 4 Biodiversity CIC in 2013. I joined BlackFest to give a voice to those who, demographically, do not have a voice to stand up for nature. I believe that engagement and involvement in environmental activities should be for everyone and I champion and support this for minority groups. By working together to help nature, no matter our background or ability, we can create a better environment for everyone. BlackFest is a great platform to engage with minority groups and lead environmental inclusive projects for everyone."
