Blackburn Point West: International Coastal Cleanup

Join Keep Sarasota County Beautiful for the International Coastal Cleanup, part of a worldwide effort to protect our oceans and waterways. Volunteers across the globe will be working on the same day to remove trash from shorelines, and you can be part of the change right here in Sarasota County!

🌱 Protect Marine Life – Remove harmful litter that endangers sea turtles, seabirds, and other wildlife.

💪 Build Community – Work side-by-side with neighbors for a shared cause.

Earn up to 5 volunteer hours and gain leadership experience.

Duties:

• Attend a brief training
• Serve as the main point of contact at the site
• Assist with data collection and reporting
• Return supplies to the KSCB office within the following week

Requirements:

• Minimum age: 16
• Max per site: 3 Site Captains
• If under 18, a parent/guardian must be present
• To sign up: Please select a Site Captain Ticket Type

📍 Meeting Location: Bay Side at Blackburn Point West

📄 Release Form: Required, complete the after registering.

📦 Supply Pickup: September 15 – 19, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at 8750 Bee Ridge Rd.

👟 Wear: Closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and weather-appropriate clothing.

🧹 What to Expect: Supplies provided; pick up in advance. Check in with your Site Captain or begin your self-guided cleanup.

🚗 Parking: Available on-site, first come first served. Carpooling encouraged.

👉 No ticket printing needed.

📧 Volunteers will be emailed if the event is canceled or postponed.

Info: When you first arrive, please check in (if you have a site captain present) and network with fellow volunteers. This is a great opportunity to meet like minded individuals within your community!

Info: During the main part of the event, you'll be actively removing litter from the cleanup site. This effort not only enhances the community but also has a positive impact on the surrounding environment. It's a fantastic opportunity to give back and make a meaningful difference!

Info: During the final part of the event, you'll report your litter collection to either your site captain or electronically (if there is no site captain onsite). This step is crucial, especially if you're tracking service hours. Your efforts have played a key role in keeping Sarasota County beautiful—thank you for making a difference!
