Blackbird and Jason Cropper of Weezer live at Williwaw Social

Williwaw Social is excited and proud to present Blackbird and Jason Cropper of Weezer live Friday January 28th at 7p.

Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 day of and this is a 21 and over show with valid ID. Doors are at 7pm and music will begin around 7:30p.

Originally from Anchorage Alaska, Blackbird was founded by brothers Caleb and Cody. A 5x Native American Music Award Winning Rock Band recently featured in Rolling Stone, Blackbird is self classified as "Alter-Native Rock Fusion" incorporating Native Flute and Native Percussion, age old traditional elements of their cultural music into a wholesome fresh rock sound, unheard in the market today. They have shared the bill with such artists as The Black Eyed Peas, Mike Posner, Sia, Michael Franti, Awolnation and many more.

Their most recent single "Backup" features fellow Alaskans, GRAMMY Award Winners Portugal. The Man and famed Native fiddle player Sage Cornelius.

Through their lyricism, and musical platform, Blackbird strives to share the importance of finding purpose and keeping Indigenous culture alive through the arts.

Jason Cropper was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. In his late teens, he moved to Los Angeles to join the band Weezer. As the band’s original guitarist, he contributed to their first album, The Blue Album, recorded in 1993). Cropper is credited with co-writing the song “My Name is Jonas”. After discovering his girlfriend was pregnant, Cropper left Weezer to focus his attention on raising a family.

His love of making music continued and in 1995 he released a single “Free Lunch” with his band Chopper One, followed by the album Now Playing. Cropper was involved in various music projects in the late ’90s and early 2000. Cropper sang the theme song for the 2002–2003 American sitcom, Andy Richter Controls t he Universe.
Today, in 2020, Jason is scheduled to release a series of singles that he’s spent the past several years writing and producing. His first single Goodness Knows will drop mid-July followed shortly by his next single Perfect Dream in late August.
