About this Event
Did do you know that less than 5% of all multi athletes are black and of that only 25% are women? Black women leaders in multisport discuss swimming, cycling and running as well as how to get started.
Join us at our Partner Priotity Bike's Loft, for this panel discussion. Refreshments will be served.
Panel:
Doc Halliday Golden is an Ironman Triathlete and USA Triathlon Coach as well as Assistant Director for the Empire Triathlon Club. In edition to building and developing business relationships with club sponsors and local businesses, Doc Halliday also Leads and coaches team run, bike and swim workouts.
Dereka Hendon-Barnes, is the current President of Major Taylor Iron Riders, board member for USA CYCLING & Transportation Alternatives. In addition to being an advocate for her cycling community, she has completed 14 triathlons. In 2022 Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance partnered with Ironman Foundation/Race for Change to introduce POC to the sport.
Jacq Greg a runner, run motivator and RRCA certified run coach. Who fell in love with running 10 years ago and has never looked back. She has run 7 marathons, too many 5k’s to count, and a bunch of everything else in between. In her professional life, Jacq is an actor and teaching artist. Moderator:
Megan White (our Moderator )is an NYC based athlete who participated in her first triathlon over 10 years ago and since then, she has completed many more at all distances, including 5 Iron Man finishes. Megan works in arts philanthropy by day and is a USAT certified Level 1triathlon coach. In 2012 she co-founded the All Women’s Tri Team, with the mission to encourage more women – particularly women of color – to participate in the sport.
Lisa Gillespie MSN a fomer mtn biker turned road rider and discovered the fun of triathalons in her 50s. She won for her age group several times. She's also a Leader/ Shero of Black Girls do Bike NYC This year she competes with a knee replacement
