Black Women and the Harm of Sexual Stereotypes in Media

This event delves into the harmful impact of sexual stereotypes of Black women in media, examining how these portrayals reduce them to limited, often damaging roles. We will discuss how these stereotypes affect Black women’s dating lives, contributing to misconceptions and harmful dynamics in relationships, and how they can fuel victim-blaming and normalization of sexual assault. Through thoughtful conversation, we will explore ways to challenge these narratives, promote healthier representations, and advocate for change in media and society.
