Black Velvet Revue

This Juneteenth, join us for an unforgettable evening honoring the rich legacy of Black burlesque, jazz, cabaret, and creative expression in Kansas City and around the country. Eboni Fondren presents: Black Velvet Revue in a one night only celebration in the crossroads.
Inspired by the historic Black entertainment culture of Kansas City’s 18th & Vine district and legendary performers like Evelyn Lee, Irene McLaurin, Adah Jeanne Leake, and Zella Mae Moten of The Ebony Dancers. Black Velvet Revue celebrates freedom through music, movement, glamour, sensuality, and unapologetic artistry, like generations of Black performers in Kansas City before. Black performers create spaces of joy, liberation, resistance, and visibility through jazz and burlesque. This event pays tribute to that history while celebrating the modern artists who continue the legacy today. Featuring a live jazz band and vocals along with performances, this night promises to be an uplifting and inspiring celebration of community and creativity.
About the venue: 515 Music Hub is a brand new live jazz listening room in the Crossroads dedicated to live music, artist development, and community. There is plenty of parking available.
Doors will open at 7:00 and tickets are limited. BRING CASH as tipping is encouraged and there is no ATM on site. Show starts at 8:00.
