Black Trauma x Healthcare

Part of our Trauma x The Body series, this event explores the intersection of racial trauma and healthcare inequities within the Black community. We'll discuss the harmful medical misconceptions historically associated with Black bodies, such as false beliefs of higher pain tolerance and thicker skin, and examine how these biases persist in modern medical practices. The event also highlights how trauma is created and perpetuated in healthcare settings, along with the repercussions of fear and distrust of medical institutions that now persists in the Black community.
