About this Event
A 3‑hour reflective and creative workshop for Black educators
The Workshop centres Black educators’ voices, experiences, and expertise. Drawing on selected passages from Black Teacher, participants will explore how Gilroy’s reflections resonate today, where change has occurred, and where challenges persist.The workshop will combine:
- Guided close reading and discussion
- Personal reflection and storytelling
- Small‑group dialogue across roles, phases, and generations
- Creative and reflective activities (writing, mapping, and collective prompts)
This is a supportive, affirming space created by and for Black educators, grounded in care, solidarity, and mutual respect.
This workshop is open to:
- Black teachers (all phases and subjects)
- Black educators in leadership, mentoring, teacher education, or support roles
- Black trainee teachers and early‑career educators
- Black education researchers and community educators
You do not need prior knowledge of Black Teacher to participate—curiosity, reflection, and lived experience are more than enough.
