Black Solidarity Week Day of Service

Since the start of the pandemic, Community Ready Corps (CRC) has distributed tens of thousands of free COVID-19 protection supplies (PPE kits) to disenfranchised communities in Oakland.

As part of their 5th Annual Black Solidarity Week, CRC is organizing a Day of Service on Saturday, February 19. CRC is calling on white allies to move in solidarity on this Day of Service by volunteering with CRC Allies and Accomplices to put together PPE kits for CRC to hand out in the community. The event will take place at Montclair Park in Oakland, and volunteers are welcome to join for any part of the shift. Join us and bring your friends!

Volunteering at this Day of Service is open to anyone interested, but please note that CRCAA was called into existence by Community Ready Corps with the purpose of organizing white people to practice the 5 Methods to Divest of White Power and Weaponize White Privilege. This means that everything CRCAA does, including kit assembly shifts, is politically geared toward white folks, and that white folks appointed by CRC and CRCAA will be leading the shifts.

We are also accepting donations of PPE kit supplies:

• Small bottles of hand sanitizer (1-3 oz)
• Disposable non-latex gloves, size L
• Surgical or N95/KN95/KF94 face masks
• Plastic bags with a zipper (gallon and sandwich size)

ACCESSIBILITY INFO:

Montclair Park is grassy and flat. The Moraga Ave entrance has no stairs. There are some built-in picnic tables, and folding tables and chairs will also be provided for the kit making. Bathrooms are closed at the park, but free accessible single-toilet bathrooms are available in the supermarket next to the park. There is both metered and unmetered street parking around the park.
